About the organization:

Their purpose is to help safeguard Australians at risk from online harms and to promote safer, more positive online experiences. This agency leads and co-ordinates the online safety efforts across Commonwealth departments, authorities and agencies and engages with key online safety stakeholders.
It has a broad remit which includes administering complaint schemes and the creation of audience-specific content and programs to help educate all Australians about online safety.

About the role:

Produce high level briefs, responses to government and other reports on a broad range of new and emerging online safety initiatives
Apply expertise in compliance with legislation and relevant policy frameworks including the development of policies, best practice
procedures/guidelines, legislative instruments and other material
Interpret and apply legislation and regulatory frameworks
Provide legal advice in the areas of administrative law, privacy law, intellectual property, contract law, freedom of information and criminal law
Prepare matters for merits review or civil proceedings
Undertake external environment analysis and scanning and provide advice on regulatory policy design and development
Apply critical thinking and research analysis
Advise on highly complex or sensitive complaints engage and collaborate with representatives from key internal and external stakeholder groups in an informed, strategic and persuasive manner to build relationships, raise awareness while managing expectations and sensitivities.

You can undertake objective, systematic analysis and draw accurate conclusions based on evidence
You can monitor the context in which the organisation operates, research, advise and implement best practice approaches

You can deliver on multiple projects running at the same time under tight timeframes
You can approach negotiations and frame persuasive arguments having a strong grasp of the key issues, associated strengths/ weaknesses, position of
other parties and desired outcomes
You can structure expert advice and communications to ensure clarity of complex and specialised matters with relevant stakeholders
You have the aptitude to analyse and assess the policy agenda from multiple perspectives
You can build and sustain relationships with a network of key internal and external stakeholders
You can engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation
You can provide impartial advice with the confidence to challenge important issues constructively and to maintain a position if challenged
You are solutions focused.
You have strong experience as a qualified lawyer
You have a strong understanding of online safety issues and the relevant state and federal regulatory environments

Valid Police Check
