Senior Accountant Regulatory Reporting

The Senior Accountant Regulatory Reporting position plays an important role in the Finance function. The Financial Control team is responsible for the integrity and reliability of the organisation’s financial information to enable statutory, regulatory, management and taxation reporting obligations to be met. The team supports the business, management, and Board by providing both financial and non- financial information to assist in decision making and strategic planning.
Financial Control is responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, payment settlements and back-office Treasury activities and the administration of the Dynamics 365 (Finance and Operations) system and other General Ledger system components, ensuring the development of these systems to effectively meet the reporting obligations for the Volt group.
As a regulatory reporting subject matter expert, this role is responsible for the timely delivery of regulatory reporting. The role will assist with the development of an automated solution to deliver accurate efficient automated reporting including, gather requirements and business context and work closely with the data team to document governance structure and the key controls of the end-to-end reporting processes.

Responsibilities:

Strategy

Collaborate with stakeholders to assist Head of Financial Control for the successful implementation of new business initiatives and projects

Operational Management

Manage and prepare the daily/weekly/monthly /quarterly reports on a timely basis to fulfil reporting requirements for all internal and external stakeholders (APRA, RBA etc.) including the delivery of integration of regulatory reporting CoreBis solution to automate the completion and reconciliation of monthly and quarterly APRA regulatory returns
Assist with review and development of policies and procedures for regulatory reporting.
Developing, implementing and documenting changes for data mapping, gap analysis, UAT testing etc. for any regulatory changes from delivery of new products and processes.
Providing advice to the business on APRA regulatory standards and any changes thereto.
Excellent stakeholder management and communications skills.
Build the necessary risk and compliance reporting for senior management.
Provide accurate information, as required, to internal and external auditors to support compliance with accounting and audit procedures.
Support the Head of Financial Control to drive efficiencies and improvement on BAU reports and in the creation of timely, accurate and complete reports.

Risk and Compliance

Develop a strong understanding of the regulatory framework and its context to the volt business
Ensure compliance with legislation, accounting standards, prudential standards, the Group Risk Management Framework, Operational Risk Management Framework, and other relevant regulatory guidelines
Maintain knowledge of relevant prudential and policy requirements.
Raise any risks identified with the Head of Financial Control and implement relevant mitigation controls

Relationship Management

Build collaborative and cohesive business relationships to develop understanding of objectives and priorities of team members and key stakeholders.
Develop strong relationships, communicate, and effectively manage partnerships with internal and external stakeholders

Experience:

5 years + experience completing APRA regulatory reporting for a domestic retail bank
Exposure to IFRS, AASB and APRA standards
Exceptional time management and prioritising skills, displaying a strong ability to meet tight and competing deadlines whilst working in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
Advanced Excel, modelling and reporting skills

Key Attributes:

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, in particular Excel
High attention to detail coupled with an attitude of ownership
Flexibility, adaptability, and a desire to contribute individually working in a small team
Practical experience in commercial accounting
Effective time management skills
