Supports the local Western Sydney community a population of around , residents.
As the city is growing and ever-changing they have a new role available.

The City Strategy Department

Leads the development of a strategy framework to guide future planning of Penrith, by developing long term land use planning strategies, policies, regional planning and place-based planning projects.
Developing & maintaining relationships to implement a series of projects including local, state and federal governments.
Leveraging opportunities through the Western Sydney City Deal.

As the Strategic Partnerships and Policy Manager

Your role is to lead the development of policy to inform and promote the Council-s policies, programs and services.
The key to this will be to develop and maintain long term strategic stakeholder partnerships to coordinate and facilitate the implementation of City Strategy, involving local, state and federal Governments.
Working with Government agencies in the planning of key initiatives and game changing opportunities for the Western Parkland City and the City Deal.

Key Responsibilities

Establish & Maintain Collaborative Stakeholder Relationships
Developing long term relationships & partnerships with key stakeholders in all levels of government
Work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver the identified projects
Represent the Council/City at stakeholder meetings & events
Strengthen community engagement across strategic policy directions
Coordinate Project City Deal Initiatives
Maintain a knowledge & awareness of changes and developments in government to maximise opportunities & outcomes.
Ensure strategic policy is developed in a collaborative manner and considers the broader Western Parkland City
Strategic Policy Development
Support the City Strategy Manager to lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the strategic policy directions to deliver the councils City Strategy
Manage high level strategic support, research, advice and information to inform and promote Council-s policies, programs and services
Provide specialist advice to internal & external stakeholders on matters relating to strategic planning, policy issues and opportunities,
and government policy analysis
Promote & integrate the council-s strategy into State and Commonwealth Government activities
Represent Council
Effectively communicate Council-s strategic goals, policy positions and directions in a range of forums & public meetings
Provide professional and technical advice/guidance
Project management
Lead the development of Strategic Directions and a narrative for Places of Penrith and City Strategy more broadly to facilitate community & stakeholder engagement.
Develop a community & stakeholder engagement framework
Coordinate organisational responses to key government and regional strategies, policies and inquiries where the response requires cross departmental input.

Criteria - To be successful, you must have

A tertiary qualification in Policy Development, Planning, Economics or a relevant discipline
Extensive experience in the hands-on delivery of Policy, Strategy or Planning based initiatives
The ability to gain the confidence and respect of council, state and federal government officials, external bodies and staff at all levels
Vision and an ability to think and plan for the future
Strong understanding of the macro issues confronting high growth outer metropolitan areas and the necessary responses
Demonstrated experience in integrating strategic information and projects with organisational activities to ensure coordinated solutions for community issues and needs
Extensive local knowledge & the ability to interpret the knowledge into strategies and strategic approaches
Demonstrated successful experience in negotiation and ability to influence
