JOB DESCRIPTION
Requirements:
We are looking for a full time qualified painter and decorator to join our team. Our head Office is in Lalor.
- Cease working in any unsafe condition
- You will have responsibility for all OH&S reporting and monitoring in this area
- Be hardworking, enthusiastic and have a good understanding of the industry.
- Have the ability to colour match and take pride in their work to produce high quality finishes.
- The successful candidate should ideally have completed certificate 3 in painting decorating with a minimum of 2 years work experience, otherwise 3 years full time experience preferred.

Responsibilities:
- You will need to paint internal external walls, equipment, buildings, and other structural surfaces, using brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
- You may be required to remove old paint to prepare surface prior to painting. You may be required to mix colours or oils to obtain desired colour or consistency.
- You will be required to calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements and/or work orders.
- You will be responsible to read work orders or receive instructions from supervisors or homeowners in order to determine work requirements.
- You will be required to apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to equipment, buildings, bridges, and/or other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.
- You will be required to apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats.
- You will be required to cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
- You will be required to fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
- You will be required to mix and match colours of paint, stain, or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colours and consistencies.
- You will be required to polish final coats to specified finishes.
- You will be responsible to remove fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.
- You will be required to remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water and/or abrasive blasting.
- Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, and/or sanding machines.
- Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly.
- Cut stencils, and brush and spray lettering and decorations on surfaces.
- Erect scaffolding and swing gates, or set up ladders, to work above ground level.
- Select and purchase tools and finishes for surfaces to be covered, considering durability, ease of handling, methods of application, and customers' requisites.
- Use special finishing techniques such as sponging, ragging, layering, or faux finishing.
- Waterproof buildings, using water proofers and caulking.
- You will have visual colour discrimination - - The ability to match or detect differences between colours, including shades of colour and brightness.

Benefits:
Salary of $55. 000 to $60. 000 plus superannuation is on offer to the successful candidate depending on their skill level.
