The Role


The DDG SR Contract Officer supports the Contract Manager in managing the contractual relationship between Thales and its customers, its partners and subcontractors/suppliers in order to optimise Thales's profitability by minimising the contractual and financial risks associated with contract performance and by seeking commercial opportunities during the project phase and to protect Thales's commercial position throughout the contract's life cycle, by ensuring Contract Management functions are met.



The Responsibilities


·         Responsible for supporting Thales's commercial position throughout the contract life, by ensuring the contract requirements are complied with, and ensuring that potential breaches and disputes are notified to the DDG SR Program Manager and Thales Legal Department.

·         Responsible for the supporting the Configuration Management of the contract.

·         Responsible for project managing ADHOC taskings, including, but not limited to; the preparation, delegation sign off and submission of quotations

·         Liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, including Project Management Office (PMO)

·         Day to day management of communication between all parties, weekly reporting, liaising with scheduler ensuring Primavera requirements are met ensuring scope and cost are adequate and to scope in line with contractual requirements

·         Responsible for liaising with the Project Contract Administrator(s) with regards to Task Change Proposals, Trident and Portal

·         Provide reporting and commercial support to the Contract Manager for both the Engineering and Supply Support teams

·         Provide support for both internal and external Contract Status Reviews.

·         A good level of interpersonal, organisation and communication skills.

·         Sound analysis and judgement skills.

·         Ability to successfully work with people at all levels of an organisation including as part of a team.

·         Sound business, commercial and regulatory knowledge and experience.

·         Good people skills and a proven ability to communicate in a positive manner with internal and external customers.

·         Excellent technical writing skills.

·         Quality and WHS&E systems knowledge.

·         Experience in contracts and

business development, including the costing and preparation of tender proposals.

·         Advanced skill level with Microsoft applications particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint.




Desirable Experience


·         Experience in contract management, legal, commercial or project management.

·         Successful track record in the provision of contract support that has facilitated the delivery of successful project and business outcomes.

·         Customer orientation (internal and external).

·         Providing leadership and assisting team members in meeting contractual requirements.


Special Requirements


·         Eligible for an Australian Defence Security Clearance.

·         Must meet Project ITARS requirements.

·         Requires White Card Training.




·         Strong English language communication and writing skills.

·         Post graduate qualifications or training in areas of Business, Finance/Accounting, Law, Project Management, Commercial Management or Engineering is desirable
